SSTP VPN Setup under Windows Vista SP1

Setting up EarthVPN access under Windows Vista is simple. The following instructions go step–by–step through the creation process. These instructions work under all the client–side variations of Windows Vista, namely Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, and Ultimate.
The things to click and places to type your information are higlighted in red, yellow, green, and/or blue.
System Requirements
SSTP protocol is only supported on vista service pack 1 or newer.Before setting up your VPN connection, make sure your version of Vista is SP1 or newer and up to date by running Windows Update.
Make sure your system is up–to–date
Be sure that you run Windows Update before setting up your VPN connection.
Step:1 Open the Control Panels
First, click on the Start button and click “Connect To”.
Step:2 Set up the VPN connection
The next screen may not look quite like this if you have networks already defined. In any case, click on “Set up a connection or Network.”
Step:3 Choose the Connection Type
On the next screen, click on “Connect to a workplace” then click “Next.”
Step:4 Select the Internet connection
Next click “Use my Internet connection (VPN).”
NOTE: If prompted for “Do you want to use a connection that you already have?”, select No, create a new connection and click Next.
Step:5 Enter the server information
Now, enter the server information.
In the text box labelled ‘Internet address’ type EarthVPN Server Address. This is the Internet address of the EarthVPN servers.
In the text box labelled ‘Destination name’ type EarthVPN. This is the name of the connection, and will show up in the “Connect to a network” screen when we’re done.
Lastly, make sure that the checkbox labelled “Don’t connect now; just set it up so I can connect later” is checked.
Then click the “Next” button.
Step:6 Enter your EarthVPN username and password
In this screen, enter your EarthVPN username and password.
In the text box labelled “User name:” enter your EarthVPN username.
In the text box labelled “Password:” enter your EarthVPN password.
Optionally, check the “Remember this password” check-box and you won’t have to enter your password when you connect to EarthVPN.
Then, click the ”Create” button.
Step:7 Connection Ready
You should see this screen next. Click the “Close” button to return to the “Network and Internet” screen.
Step:8 Setting up SSTP
To setup SSTP settings connect to click on Start, then Connect to.
You should see the EarthVPN connection that you have just set up. Right–click on the EarthVPN connection and choose Properties from the menu.
In the EarthVPN Properties, click on the Networking and Type of VPN pop–up menu and select Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol (SSTP).
You’re finished! Click the OK button to save your settings.
Step:9 Connect to EarthVPN
When you want to connect to EarthVPN, just double–click on the connection and click the Connectbutton. Enter your username and password (if you didn’t save it), and you’ll connect!
Step:10 Disconnect from EarthVPN
To disconnect from a VPN connection, right-click the icon for the connection, and then click Disconnect.
Note: The first time you connect to Earthvpn, you might see a screen Windows is asking you if you want to automatically connect to EarthVPN whenever you’re at a given location. If you want to connect to EarthVPN automatically when you’re at a public hotspot, click “Public location.”
However, you probably should click ”Cancel”, because most public locations require you to click through an agreement before you can access the Internet — meaning that any connection you attempt will fail. Instead, you should just connect manually.
